About

The short version

Zander started Buck-a-Ball from his own backyard on the golf course, turning lost golf balls into a small business with a big heart.

What began as a shy boy’s simple stand has grown into a place where golfers stop to chat, laugh, and stock up.

Once vandals tried to tear it down, the community rallied behind Zander, showing him the true power of support and resilience.

Inspired by his dad’s business and the encouragement of his neighbors, Zander is excited to take the next step in building Zander’s Buck-a-Ball.

Zander's Buck-a-Ball Story

Heart, Community, and Inspiration:

Zander had always been a little shy. Talking to new people wasn’t easy for him, and he usually kept to himself. But everything changed the day he started Zander’s Buck-a-Ball, a small business he ran right from his own backyard that bordered the golf course. What started as simply gathering stray balls from his yard and the neighbor tossing some over the fence turned into something much bigger.

With a printed sign on the fence and a bucket full of golf balls, Zander began greeting golfers as they passed. At first, it was just a quiet “hello” and a small wave, but over time he found himself chatting with regulars, joking with them, and even cheering them on as they teed off. What once felt like a challenge—talking to strangers—slowly became something he looked forward to every day.

The community quickly noticed Zander’s effort and charm. Golfers would stop, buy balls, and encourage him to keep going. His little stand became a familiar fixture and friendly stop along the course.

But not everything came easy. One morning, Zander walked outside to find his stand had been vandalized. Buckets were overturned, signs were broken, and his small business looked like it had been ruined. The disappointment was heavy—but what happened next showed him just how powerful his community really was. Neighbors, golfers, and even people who had only heard about Zander’s stand came together to help rebuild it. They donated supplies, helped clean up, and encouraged him to keep going. What could have been the end of Zander’s Buck-a-Ball instead became a symbol of strength and support.

For Zander, this was more than just selling golf balls. It was about growing his confidence, learning to connect with people, and realizing how much his community cared. Inspired by his dad—who also runs his own business—Zander has seen firsthand what hard work and community support can do. Now, with the encouragement of everyone around him, he’s ready to take the next step in building Zander’s Buck-a-Ball into something even bigger.

What started as a shy boy selling balls from his backyard has grown into a dream, a business, and a reminder that when people come together, amazing things can happen
